Advocacy

The first benefit that you will receive as a member of MIAC is the opportunity to contribute to the music community. A portion of every membership is placed into the MIAC Music Education Fund. This fund has allowed the Music Industries Association of Canada to donate over $150,000 to institutions and organizations that advocate musical programming for Canada’s youth. Investing in the next generation of musicians is an easy way to ensure the future security of music products manufacturing, distribution, and retail.

AGM - Making a difference in the industry

In addition to the opportunity to shape the future of the industry, MIAC membership provides you with a number of opportunities to change the face of today’s industry. Each year at the MIAC Trade Show – Canada’s largest music products show - we host the Annual General Meeting. As a MIAC member, you will have the privilege of voting* for the types of acts and reformations that could secure your business success.

The 2011 meeting will be held at the Direct Energy Centre (The Presentation Theatre), 100 Princes' Blvd., Toronto, on the Province of Ontario, on Monday, 16, 2010 at 8:30 a.m.

*not all membership categories have voting privileges.

Research & Statistics

MIAC will continue to use its network of esteemed members to gather vital information including important statistics and the latest innovations. We hope that you may benefit from a wealth of germane knowledge by using it to implement proven strategies and services.

MIAC prepares three reports exclusively for its members. The MIAC Select 10 sales index report and the Statistics Canada report on music products import data are produced on a quarterly basis. Annually, MIAC takes the Statistics Canada data one step further and produces a Market Report for the entire year.

People and Organizations

Once you’ve used the latest industry information to bolster sales, you can protect your staff by providing specially negotiated Employee Group Insurance. In partnership with MIAC, Morneau Sobeco has worked to design employee benefits tailored to the specific needs of music product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of all sizes.

E-News

As a MIAC member you will receive regular electronic newsletters. In addition, MIAC authors the "MIAC News" column in the bi-monthly Canadian Music Trade magazine.

Global Connection

The MIAC Chairman and Executive Director represent Canada at the International Coalition Committee (Global Economic Summit) for the worldwide music products industry.

Toronto Hotel Savings

Exhibiting at the Show

Exhibiting in the MIAC and PAL trade show is open to manufacturer/distributor or International members of MIAC. The MIAC Trade Show creates a unique and positive setting in which buyers can evaluate and purchase music products with confidence. Housed under one roof, MIAC makes it possible to see the latest products in action and to compare their features and prices head-to-head so that the right choice becomes an easy one.

Dealer Appreciation Program

MIAC is pleased to offer the Dealer Appreciation Program which provides qualified MIAC retail members* one night's free accommodation at our host hotel(s)** during the annual trade show. Because this promotion is designed to address travel costs, it is only available to those retail members travelling more than 500km (315 Miles) to attend the tradeshow. *A qualified member must have submitted their dues in a timely fashion over the course of their membership. Dues for the current year must be received no later than the third Friday in April. Dealers must travel more than 500 km to attend the tradeshow to qualify. **You must complete your registration directly with the hotel. Credit for one night's free accommodation will be awarded upon checkout. You will not qualify for any discounts or rebates at hotels that are not formally listed as one of MIAC's official host hotels or for reservations made outside of the allocated room block period.

Montreal MIAC Express

In order to assist our retailers and dealers from Quebec to participate of in the annual tradeshow MIAC offers retail members in good standing* the opportunity to travel by bus to the MIAC Tradeshow from Montreal free of charge. For more details please click here.

*A member in good standing must have submitted their dues in a timely fashion over the course of their membership. Dues for the current year must be received no later than the third Friday in April for a dealer to qualify.
